I’m a success today because I had a friend who believed in me and I didn’t have the heart to let him down”

    Abraham Lincoln

Maybe you’ve heard this quote before or maybe you haven’t, but chances are you haven’t thought about it in a slightly different context of a word friend.

I know for myself that I certainly wouldn’t be here right now without my dearest friend, who helped me in the toughest of times. Last year I lost the job that I loved and to say “loved” might actually be an understatement. I really enjoyed doing it and on top of that the pay was one of the highest in the whole country, a dream situation. I was devastated and, at times, I still am, I am still recovering from that smack of reality.

However through that loss I met a great friend and who knows if I would have met him if I hadn’t had lost that job. Meeting him also pushed me into marrying my wife (we had a civil marriage before), this time in church, in front of our friends and family and to try going for a second child after the wedding.

All of this would have been impossible without that friend that I met at just the right time, and that friend that I am talking about is Jesus Christ and God almighty. It seemed ridicules to go for a second child with both of us being unemployed, but we felt kind of called to do it… and you know what? It is turning out to be just fine and I can feel and see God protecting us and guiding us in all aspects of our life.

I did something because I didn’t want to let my God down and it seemed to have directed me towards some beautiful family success. Do something good for God and I guarantee you He’ll see your effort and award you in due time. He really is a good and just God.

He who kneels before God, can stand before any man.

    Ezra Taft Benson

This reminds me of a interview I saw with a former CIA employee where he talked about how Christianity is constantly trying to be suppressed. He mentioned one situation where the order came from the top of the CIA management that forbade wishing marry Christmas and all other Christianity related stuff/discussions in the office and only he and one other colleague where surprised and shocked by such order. If disobeyed, they would face administrative penalties.

He, being a true Christian, disobeyed the order and upon leaving the office he said “Goodbye, and by the way, Marry Christmas!”

He then said something that I very much agree with, he continued explaining why was only Christianity targeted by saying “Christians are the only ones that don’t respond to tyranny” and that makes us impossible to control. We only have one true king we serve and that is Jesus Christ and we will not disown our king, no matter the penalty!

I will probably write an article about this someday, where I will go more in dept and will probably post the link there to the video that I am referring.

If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything

    Mark Twain

I loved this quote the moment I saw it for the first time way back in my high school. It goes well with another one from John Spence:

If you tell the truth, it becomes a part of the past…

When we lie, we are constantly being haunted by that lie, even if went well and nobody suspects anything, we are still worried that somewhere down the road truth will come out and bite us in the ass.

So ever since then (my high school) I decided not to lie again. I didn’t manage to completely refrain from lying, I’m only human after all, but I’d say I’m doing pretty good, I lie maybe 20 times a year and usually about small stuff. Nowadays I actually feel physically bad if I lie. Someone might call that a weakness but I’m proud of my honesty.

Being honest has really helped me in life as it keeps the past in the past, I don’t carry much baggage with me from it. Secondly, it helped me build credibility and trust with my friends and especially at my work.

I hope you as well consider being more honest from now on :)w

That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

    2 Corinthians 12:10

Although we should strive to pray not only in sorrow but in happiness as well, often times we don’t do that. However, true is that when we pray we are the strongest, the prayer and faith in those moments empower us.

So when we are facing the biggest hardships, when you would think you’ve hit rock bottom, that’s when you’ll remember to pray and that’s when you will become the strongest you can be!

Now let’s just try to remember to pray when everything is going good as well. Let’s pray not only to ask for help but to thank God for the help he already provided.

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

    2 Corinthians 5:7

Often times we can get discouraged from our certain ideas only because from our point of you we can’t see the light behind at the end of a dark tunnel or to put it even more simply: we can’t see the solution to our problems.

But that’s just how life is, as Steve Jobs once said:

You can’t connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards.

So you have to trust in something, often times you will have to go blind into some decisions, not knowing what will come from them, just have faith in God that even though you don’t know, He does.
